Sustainability is an important part of our core values at Icasia Studios. We know that the fashion industry accounts for up to 10% of global carbon dioxide output and is extremely harmful to our planet. Our aim is to steer customers away from the fast fashion industry where consumers may buy multiple garments because of the cheap price tag when in reality, more items are bought more frequently due to the poor quality of the garments thus encouraging the ‘throw away’ consumer mentality. The continual drive of the ‘fast fashion’ industry adds to the waste problem, amounting for up to 10,000 items of clothing being sent to landfill every five minutes.
Here at Icasia Studios we want to change this by providing accessible sustainable and ethically made premium garments that will become staple and long lasting pieces in your wardrobe.
It is important to us that we carry on discovering and developing ways for us to be the best that we can be and taking care of the people in every chain of the production.
For us at Icasia Studios, we strive to make a difference in one of the biggest industry in the World by producing premium, sustainable and ethically made pieces to help minimise waste and to give you an option to make a more sustainable fashion choice. It is an industry that is constantly evolving and should be viewed as a positive step towards our future.
Our Materials
Our garments are made from 100% certified organic cotton and all our products are ‘PETA-Approved’ Vegan as no animal tests are conducted on any ingredients, formulations or finished products.
The cotton is grown from seeds that have not been genetically modified and that are cultivated without the use of chemical pesticides and fertilisers. This combined with crop rotation, ensures long-term soil fertility which is critical for smallholder farmers’ livelihoods.
After harvesting, the organic cotton then goes to an exclusive ginning facility which ensures there is no contamination possible from conventional cotton and more quality checks are carried out.
Our accessories such as our tote bags and duffle bags are crafted from recycled materials (80% recycled organic cotton, 20% recycled polyester).
Dyes and Print House
Our factories ensure that dyes and other additives going into our products are managed with extremely high standards throughout the entire supply chain to reduce harm to people and our environment. The chemical management policies at the production sites include compliance with the highest STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX (one of the World’s best know substances).
Our printing house which constructs our garments is based in the UK, meaning that we have a close relationship with our supplier.
When printing on our garments, we use eco-friendly inks which are free of heavy metals, formaldehyde and APE, making the inks non-hazardous, non-toxic and biodegradable.
Washing and Care Instructions
The washing instructions are indicated on the care label of each product. All garments should be washed at 30°C and air-dried (i.e. not in a tumble drier). Following these care instructions will help to ensure the longest life possible for the products.
Wash with similar colours together, no ironing on print, wash and iron inside out.
By using 100% organic cotton within our clothing range, we ensure that the microfibres released off the clothing biodegrades once released into the environment and does not build up in our oceans.
